Analytical Study to Assessment the Stability of the Al-Askarian Underpass in Najaf

This study studied the most important problems that may be exposed to Al-Askarian underpass in province of Najaf. The length tunnel is 507 m. It divided into two parts according number test pits, and each part 17 depending on locations joints tunnel. During construction process, problem height-water level appeared at site, so four wells were drilled control groundwater level. highest was recorded a depth 1 m below ground analytical showed stability origin, safety factor, as follows: Safety coefficient against overturning from 3.5 10.4. sliding 1.23 25.6. bearing capacity 6.4 108.7. Calculations also made find out resistance ascending forces event rises suggest appropriate treatments for such case.
